Kanimbla Suburb Profile
Kanimbla is a middle-ring suburb adjoining to Brinsmead, Whitfield and Manoora approximately 10-minute drive from the Cairns CBD. Kanimbla is one of the newer and smaller suburbs of Cairns made up almost entirely of residential housing with greenery and park land scattered throughout the suburb. The major park in Kanimbla is City View Park however there are few other facilities and services due to the smaller size of the suburb. The postcode for Kanimbla is 4870.

There are no shops directly in Kanimbla but its location means that it is within 10 minute drive from Raintree’s Shopping Centre in Manunda, including a Woolworths; Piccone’s Shopping Village, with a Super IGA; and Cairns Central Shopping Centre containing major outlets including Coles, Myer, Target, Kmart and JB HiFi. There are also a number of small convenience stores in the adjoining suburbs within a 5-minute drive away.
Although there a no schools within the boundaries of Kanimbla there are two Catholic primary schools, St Francis Xavier’s and Our Lady Help of Christians, as well as a public school, Whitfield State School located in adjoining suburbs and providing schooling from years prep through to year 6. There is also Trinity Bay State High School and St Andrews Catholic College located close by providing secondary schooling in both public and private options.
