Caravonica
Caravonica is a northern suburb of Cairns adjoining to Smithfield, Redlynch and Kamerunga about 20-minute from the CBD. Being a developing suburb of Cairns, Caravonica has many large blocks and areas of rural land available but also has new developments in the area helping to expand the region. With large amounts of rural land Caravonica contains many unstructured green spaces consisting of floodplain, rural and parkland. The Baron River also flows through Caravonica providing a locally renowned swimming hole, Lake Placid as well as being home to the popular Barron Gorge National Park track. Being situated between both Smithfield and Redlynch, Caravonica is just a 10-minute drive from two of Cairns' major shopping centres; Smithfield Shopping Centre and Redlynch Central Shopping Centre which provide access to both major grocery stores, Coles and Woolworths. Caravonica also contains a local pizzeria and cocktail bar called Alessandro's which is located in the Lake Placid region of Caravonica.

Caravonica contains Caravonica State School a primary school catering from Prep-6, and has many schools in adjacent suburbs providing both public and primary schooling from prep through to year 12. The Cairns Sunbus public transport service also runs throughout the area with multiple stop overs in the suburb.
